When I lived in Oklahoma, I always wondered why on earth anyone would live in California where there are earthquakes (they just sound scary, don't they?) or in Florida where there are hurricanes.


It seems I will get get the opportunity to experience my very own hurricane first hand later this week. Quite frankly, I'm not all that excited about it. We have plenty of food and I have stocked up on water and batteries. We have a battery powered radio, plenty of flashlights, a propane lamp, grills, and charcoal. I just cannot get very enthused about spending several days in a hot, mosquito infested area without power or running water. This doesn't help me explain why people live in areas prone to severe weather.
